Sleaze Ball

Sydney's Sleaze Ball takes place in early Spring each year - late September or early October. It's the perfect way to celebrate the end of winter. It's also an important fundraiser for the following year's Mardi Gras.

A little bit of history. The first Sleaze Ball was held in September 1982 in the grand ballroom at Paddington Town Hall. It was an overwhelming success and 500 party goers had to be turned away. The following year it headed to the Showgrounds for the first time, numbers rocketed and Sydney had it's other great gay party.

While Mardi Gras Party is all wonder, celebration and light, the Sleaze Ball is darker and edgier. There's room for everything from high camp to drag, but only so long as it's sleazy. Sleaze Ball is also the great dress-up night of the year, an opportunity to flex your creative muscles (and any other muscles you have at your disposal).
