Imperial Hotel

Sadly, the Imperial closed on September the 8th for renovations for approximately 3-6 months.

It's a drag institution, and Sydney's most famous little bar that could! The Imperial makes the most of being in the more alternative part of town by being relaxed and a great no attitude place to have a wicked night out.

Mitzi Macintosh ran the shows in the Cabaret room with her deliciously dirty drag cohorts and puts on the famous drag shows Thursdays to Saturdays on the hour, never taking themselves too seriously but entertaining as hell. These girls set the tone and I've never failed to have a great time there.

Play pool in the front room, but you'd want to be patient on a busy night, there's barely room to swing the balls, let alone your pool cue! The crowd is mixed, everything from butch dykes, baby gays and goth types, right through to some damn hot boys, and these are the ones brave enough to leave the gay ghetto so be friendly and you might get rewarded.

The downstairs cellar bar is being refurbished at the moment, but when it's good, it's great and the Priscilla Lounge cocktail bar has definitely seen some lively naughty fun: I'll vouch for that!
