With more than 70 uncrowded beaches within easy reach of its cosmopolitan heart, Sydney is a mecca for sun worshippers and surfers alike.

From famous ocean beaches like Bondi to Manly, to less well-known strips of harbourside golden sand (such as Neilsen Park at Vaucluse in the eastern suburbs and Balmoral on the lower north shore) you'll be spoiled for choice during Sydney's long hot summers.

If there is lycra to be worn and bodies to be shown off or admired then the eastern suburbs beaches of Sydney are the place to do it. From the very mixed crowd at Bronte beach with Australia’s first established Surf Life Saving Club to the more tourist renowned Coogee and world renowned Bondi, there is something for everyone.

The gay sunworshippers traditionally tanned at Tamarama beach, the next beach to the south of Bondi, but that proved to be a little dangerous for the boys who actually wanted to get wet. These days the boys who like boys tend to congregate at North Bondi. Sure, there are families and straights everywhere, but there is a definite pink flavour at that end of the beach. Besides, North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club has some of the hottest lifesavers going around, including a very sexy set of twins.

Bronte beach is probably the prettiest of the Eastern Suburbs beaches, but also quite dangerous. Then again, maybe it’s best to go there and use the surf as a good excuse to force an introduction to one of the lifesavers'
 

If you want more of a smorgasbord of eye candy, start with breakfast at one of the Bronte cafés. Don’t worry - they serve breakfast all day. Then work it all off with a stunning 20 minute cliff walk to Bondi. It’s here where you’ll see all the hot boys running with their shirts off or maybe giving you the once over discreetly as they hold their girlfriends hand. When you get to the southern headland of Bondi, take note of the park.

If you make a nocturnal visit, you probably won’t be lacking for company. It’s dark, there are lots of trees, you do the math. Especially in the summer nights, the boys are out and being very sociable. Do so at your own risk!

Then, by the time you get to the northern end of Bondi and order something to eat at a local café for lunch, you’ll be right in the mood to soak up the sun and the sexy sights. Boys in speedos, aussiebums or those very sexy low-riding board shorts. Something for everyone!
