Don Quixote, part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Festival, is the only full-length traditional classical ballet to be performed in Perth this year! Featuring guest artists from the Bolshoi Ballet, including Natalia and Yuri Vyskubenko, the talented dancers of Youth Ballet WA Inc present one of the most joyous and festive of the classical ballets, brimming with spectacular virtuoso dancing.

This colourful Classic ballet is based on the novel of Don Quixote de la Mancha written by Miguel de Cervantes. It is a vastly entertaining ballet of chivalry, romance and comic adventure. Don Quixote tells the tale of an elderly and slightly delusional Spaniard, Don Quixote, who is obsessed with stories of medieval chivalry.

Accompanied by his simple but trusty squire, Sancho Panza the tarnished but inspired Don Quixote sets out as a knight errant to search for the beautiful maid of his dreams, Dulchinea.

Today 'Don Quixote' is considered one of the most joyous and festive of the classical ballets, brimming with spectacular virtuoso dancing. The dances of Don Quixote, presented by this exciting young dance company, will include Spanish, Gypsy and Classical dance at its finest.

Youth Ballet WA Inc. is a not for profit organization focused on education in the Arts for youth. This company, founded in 2004, comprises of 110 talented dancers ranging from 8-18 years. Since it's inception in 2004, they have delighted audiences well over 200 times even reaching the wider community including rural Western Australia. Youth Ballet WA Inc has become a launching pad for talented young dancers from Perth and around the state. Many former dancers are now performing in prestigious ballet companies across the world including Briana Shepherd, who is now dancing with the New York City Ballet.
