Tango's Violin

After thrilling audiences with a sizzling sell-out season at The Famous Spiegeltent in Melbourne, Australia's hottest tango band, red dash black, join forces with vocalist Yvette Johansson and multiple award winning Australian champion tango dancers Ana Andrew and Fabio Robles to present Tango's Violin, for five performances only, at Perth's leading cabaret venue DownStairs at the Maj. Written by bandleader Sophie Kesoglidis and directed by Alan Becher, Tango's Violin is about the passion, anguish and power that is tango.

Tango's Violin tells of a woman who discovers tango through her love of playing the violin. A victim of lost love, she realises that her life has unfolded like a page of tango song lyrics torn from her heart. Passion, anguish and power envelope this evening of seduction with the musical tale of one man, two women and the romance of a violin.

Set in an Argentinean milonga (tango nightclub) be seduced by songstress Yvette Yohansson, direct from The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, performing traditional Spanish songs from the 1920 to 1960's. Swoon with pleasure as multiple aware winning Australian tango champions Ana Andre and Fabio Robles take to the floor to the deliciously sensual sounds of Argentinean tunes like 'La Cumparsita', 'Hernando's Hideaway' and 'Jealousy' played exquisitely by red dash black.

Please note this show is 75 minutes without interval. Doors and bar open one hour prior to the performance so you have time to relax with a drink before, during and after the show.
