Get swept away with the power of words.

WordStorm, the Northern Territory Writers' Festival, sweeps through Darwin in May - June every two years with a mini 'eye of the storm' festival happening in alternate years. WordStorm combines a whirlwind of genres: song, storytelling, visual art collaboration, theatre, performance poetry, history, biography, poetry and fiction. Its diverse, packed program will appeal to writers, readers and thinkers alike.

Set in Darwin's tropical dry season ambience, WordStorm offers readings, storytelling, workshops, debates, forums, panels and a litany of special events for all age groups and cultural backgrounds. In the words of a past participant, WordStorm is a festival not just about literature but about life itself.

The festival provides a laid-back but potent platform for highlighting and strengthening critical dialogue throughout the region, with Indigenous and non-Indigenous authors from across Australia and South East Asia joining local writers and storytellers in a word-filled feast of wit, wisdom and cultural wellbeing.
