The Canberra District Wine Harvest Festival is a celebration of the annual wine harvest. It is a fantastic time of the year to eat, drink and be merry in the balmy autumn weather before the winter sets in.

This year there are opportunities to learn when to pick the grapes, how to make red and white wine (including biodynamic wine), and how to disgorge champagne. You can actually taste the fermenting wine at a number of the wineries.

If that is all too much like hard work, take a balloon ride over Lake George, do a cheese master class, play some boules, try some complimentary 'Zwebelkuchen,' buy some local produce or just have a gourmet lunch and some fabulous local wine while listening to some great live jazz!

With over 30 cellar doors and cafes to choose from, you'll have no problem spending a day or more exploring the local region.
