The Byron Bay Writer's Festival in 2007 featured 138 writers with in 141 events over nine days. Events included panel discussions, conversations, book launches, literary lunches, poetry readings, film screenings and theatre. The workshop program featured 31 workshops with more than 500 budding and experienced writers taking up the opportunity to develop their skills.

There was also an extensive schools program for both primary and high school students. This year, the school's program was bigger than ever, with 800 students attending the high schools day on site on the Thursday. Forty-nine primary schools took part in events in Murwillumbah, Lismore, Byron Bay and Ballina with 1,800 students attending sessions presented by Andy Griffiths and Deborah Abela.
