Australian Safari 2007

The Australian Safari held from 24 August to 1 September 2007, is one of the world's most challenging cross-country rallies and 2007 will mark the 20th anniversary of the event. Often referred to as the "Dakar" of the southern hemisphere the event invites participants in cars, motor bikes and quads to take part. The Australian Safari however has two distinct entry categories: a 'Competition' category and an 'Adventure Tour' category.

Competition Category
The nine day safari will take place across approximately 5500 kilometres of spectacular Western Australian outback. It all begins in the Kimberly region at Kununurra, continuing through Fitzroy Crossing, on to Broome with the final checkpoint on the coast at Port Hedland. The Australian Safari then plunges back into the wide open interior to the iron mining capital of Newman, continuing on to the Goldfields and the historic town of Kalgoorlie. The final homeward run is through the Wheatbelt and Avon Valley coming to a thrilling conclusion in the vibrant capital city of Perth.

Adventure Tour category
The 2007 Australian Safari will incorporate an Adventure Tour category for both road-going vehicles and motorcycles where the start and finish lines are the same but you decide whether to go hard or just go for the fun of it. The Adventure Tour is an opportunity for people who wish to be part of the adventure, but without the competitive component. The fully guided self drive tour will provide participants with an opportunity to traverse outback roads and tracks via a route that takes in exciting points of interest, in conjunction with the same overnight stops as the competitors. This nine day tour follows Australian Safari competitors ' so participants can watch the action up close and personal.

The 2007 Australian Safari will take competitors from the tropics to the outback to the sea! Visit www.australiansafari.com.au for further information.
