Brisbane - Riverfestival

Riverfestival is Brisbane's major annual community and environmental festival celebrating our waterways and culture by focusing on the city's signature natural landmark, the Brisbane River. With its broad cultural focus incorporating art, environmental science and sport underpinned by a strong sustainability message it is unique in the Australian festivals' landscape.

By focusing the general public on the distinctiveness of Brisbane's landscape and culture, it fosters local community ownership and pride and assists in developing social cohesion and a sense of shared responsibility in the sustainability of this city, its environs and particularly its precious water resources.

Held over ten days in early September, a time of clear blue sunny skies and cool nights, the festival utilises many of the city's outdoor public spaces close to the river. The breadth of the program reflects the diverse tastes and passions of the demographic mix of Brisbane, and accessibility to this program is ensured by providing many free or low cost events.

Riverfire will be held on Saturday 1 September, 2007. A full program of events will be available on the website from early August 2007.

Aquatic boat flags for QBE Riverfire will be distributed on the 8th August 2007 from the QBE Riverfire outlet established on South Bank's Glenelg Lawn, off Little Stanley Street adjacent to the Suncorp Piazza.
