Mount Horrocks Wine

Mount Horrocks Wines is operated by proprietor/winemaker Stephanie Toole, who restricts production to approximately 4,500 cases per annum to achieve her aims of quality and single vineyard expression.

Stephanie carefully crafts her wines, which she describes as "essentially handmade food wines, with emphasis on structure as well as generous fruit flavours". All grapes are handpicked, and only the finest French oak is used for those wines spending time in barrel.

In April 1998, Stephanie opened for cellar door sales in the renovated Auburn Railway Station. Substantial renovations and landscaping of the station and surrounding railway yards has resulted in a showpiece for Auburn and Clare Valley.

Stephanie's attention to wine quality is constantly acknowledged both in Australia and around the world. James Halliday awarded Mount Horrocks Wines a five star rating, ("Outstanding winery capable of producing wines of the highest calibre."), in his 2006 Australian Wine Companion.

In June, the 2005 Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling was served to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at a four-course lunch in London to celebrate her 80th birthday. Only four wines were served and the Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut was the only Australian win in the line up. The Mount Horrocks 2005 Cordon Cut Riesling was also awarded the Decanter (UK) Magazine 'Regional Trophy for the Best Australian Wine over Ten Pounds'. This is the second time Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut has won this trophy in the award's three year history.

There are six wines produced under the Mount Horrocks Wines label: Riesling, Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Merlot and Cordon Cut Riesling. The cellar door is open for tastings on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10am to 5pm.
